Quilt Festival General Rules

 

  • Taranaki Patchworkers and Quilters members enter all categories free of charge. Exhibitors must be a financial member of TPQ as of 31st December 2025.

  • Non-members pay $50 per entry.

​

  • No quilts are to have been exhibited at previous TPQ quilt festivals.

​

  • Quilts are to be no larger than 3 metres wide.

​

  • Insurance is the responsibility of the owner.

​

  • The committee reserves the right to limit the number of quilts entered by each person if there are more entries than space for hanging permits. This will ensure that all quilts can be displayed to advantage.

​

  • The committee reserves the right to reject any entry that does not comply with the conditions of entry.

​

  • Quilts submitted after the closing date will not be accepted.

​

  • Photographs may be taken at the festival for future endorsement of the next festival.

Quilt Preparation for hanging

​

  • The challenge pamphlet details the hanging and labelling instructions for each challenge.
     

  • All other entries for the festival exhibition must have a strip of Velcro at an appropriate width for the size and weight of your quilt, securely stitched to the top back, edge to edge of the quilt. This is to ensure the quilt are easy to hang on the screens and boards. This also ensures that your quilt hangs nicely.
     

  • Quilts 120cm or wider – attach soft side of the Velcro to the quilt.
     

  • Quilts less than 120cm wide – attach the hook side (rough side) of the Velcro to the quilt.
     

  • Include the reverse side of the Velcro labelled with your name and the quilt title written on it for protection.
     

  • All entries must be labelled. The label must be attached to the bottom left corner of the quilt when reviewed from the back.

The label must state:
 

  • Quilt title
     

  • Quilt category
     

  • The quilters name, address, and phone number
     

  • Entries must be enclosed in a cloth bag also labelled with the same information as the quilt label

​

Entering your quilts
 

  • Each entry is to be on a separate entry form – Entry form attached.
     

  • Last day of submission of the entry forms is April 3rd 2026 
     

  • Email entry forms to tpq.show.entries@gmail.com. Please contact this same email address if you prefer to post your entry form.

Delivering your challenges and quilts

​

  • Quilts can be delivered between 4th and 10th April to drop off points in Hawera, New Plymouth and Bell Block.

  • Last day for Quilts and challenges to be handed in is at  TPQ Regional Day,  11th of April. 2026
